About Mrs. Blauwkamp

Hello! My name is Abby Blauwkamp, and I am beyond excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I co-taught with Mrs. Stutz in kindergarten my first year, and this is my second year in first grade! I’m looking forward to building a relationship with you and your child. To help with this, I thought I would share some information about me.

I grew up in the Jenison/Hudsonville area, and I attended Hudsonville Public Schools. I went to Georgetown for fifth grade, so now having my own classroom here is so surreal. I graduated from Grand Valley in 2018 with a degree in special education, specializing in cognitive impairments. Last summer I completed my graduate program to obtain an early childhood endorsement. Since 2014 I have worked at Georgetown in several capacities, including an after-school aide for Eagle’s Nest, a janitor, and substitute teacher.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Josh, for two years! We live in Zeeland, and we have been staying busy with house projects ever since we bought our house. The joys of home ownership! Josh is a nurse in Zeeland’s ER department as well as the Cath Lab at Holland Hospital. When we’re not working, we love spending time with friends and family. I have two older brothers who are both married, and they gifted me with the most adorable nieces and nephews. A few other hobbies of mine are cooking, crafting, hiking, and fishing. We will also be getting a puppy in the next couple of weeks… woohoo! Pictures to come!

This year is going to be full of new learning experiences for your child and myself. We are all in this together! It is my goal for your child to feel completely accepted and loved in our classroom. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. One of my biggest priorities is to keep communication open between us in order to make this the best year possible!
